Meet Our Instructors
Richard Scott Tessell
Owner and Instructor
Richard Tessell is owner of Evolve Scuba Diving and resides in Chicago. He started Evolve Scuba Diving in order to deliver high-quality and personalized training that goes beyond the minimum standards of most scuba classes. As a wreck diver, Richard is passionate about diving in Lake Michigan and seeks to create confident, committed scuba divers who can enjoy the splendor of the shipwrecks just off the shores of Chicago and Milwaukee. He is currently teaching programs in scuba diving using curriculum of SDI, TDI and NAUI.

Richard holds technical and cave diving certifications from TDI, GUE and NSS-CDS. He is an avid diver with experience in The Great Lakes, New Jersey and South Florida. He also frequents cave systems in North Florida and Mexico. Richard also is a member of the local GUE community (MWUE) and is currently participating in archeological surveys of unidentified shipwrecks with the Wisconsin Underwater Archeology Association and the Underwater Archeology Society of Chicago. He is a regular presence on dive charters in the Chicago and Milwaukee waters where he can be seen as both passenger and crew member. He has previously been a staff instructor at Dive Right In Scuba and currently teaches at Crystal Blue Diving, when not teaching private students.
