SDI or NAUI Confined Water / Referral Scuba Class The SDI or NAUI Confined Water or Referral Scuba Class is a foundational course for those looking to start their Open Water certification journey in a controlled pool environment. Ideal for those with busy schedules or planning to complete open water dives at a dive destination, this class teaches essential skills needed for safe and confident open water diving. Class Highlights Personalized Instruction: Certified instructors guide you through scuba basics, including equipment setup, dive planning, buoyancy control, and critical underwater skills. The pool environment allows for individualized attention and a comfortable setting to learn at your own pace. Skill Development: Master essential techniques such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, controlled ascents, and basic underwater navigation. These skills ensure you’re prepared to safely transition to open water diving. Flexible Referral Process: After completing this confined water portion, you’re ready to complete your certification with open water dives at another SDI or NAUI dive center, either locally or at your travel destination. Certification Age Limits Open Water Scuba Diver (Age 15+): Eligible to continue to full certification, allowing dives up to 60 feet (18 meters). Junior Open Water Diver (Ages 10–14): Eligible for dives up to 40 feet (12 meters) under adult supervision. Junior divers can upgrade to the full certification at age 15.
