Private SDI and NAUI Deep Diving Specialty The Private SDI and NAUI Deep Diving Specialty course provides an exclusive, personalized training experience designed for certified divers ready to safely explore greater depths. Conducted on a Lake Michigan dive charter, this course equips you with the essential skills, knowledge, and safety protocols for deep diving, including gas management and redundant systems, to dive with confidence. Course Overview Personalized Classroom Theory: Begin with customized, in-depth theory sessions covering dive planning, gas management, narcosis awareness, emergency procedures, and the use of redundant gas systems. Your instructor tailors the session to focus on your specific needs, helping you gain mastery over deep dive planning and safety techniques. Private Open Water Deep Dives on Lake Michigan: Embark on a series of deep dives on a Lake Michigan charter, guided personally by your instructor. Practice controlled descents, advanced buoyancy, and managing nitrogen narcosis. This course can be completed using either a single tank with a redundant gas source (e.g., pony bottle) or doubles for additional gas capacity. Please note, this is not an introductory course for doubles diving; private coaching is available for specific training in doubles configuration. Depth Limits Certified Depth Limit: Divers ages 15 and older are certified to dive up to 130 feet (40 meters). Junior Divers (Ages 12–14): Junior divers are certified to dive up to 70 feet (21 meters) with a certified adult. Equipment Requirements and Course Fees Personal Gear: Bring your own mask, fins, and snorkel. Exposure Protection: Wetsuit or drysuit suitable for Lake Michigan conditions. Required Dive Gear: Dive computer, redundant gas system (single-tank with pony bottle or doubles), and appropriate weights. Additional Fees: Course fees include Lake Michigan charter fees, crew tips, cylinders, and gas. Tanks, primary regulators, and buoyancy control devices (BCDs) are provided as part of the course.
